Budget requests

ATHENS — The Limestone County Commission is holding budget hearings for fiscal 2006. Those who made budget requests Tuesday:

  • Council on Aging, services for the elderly, aging/home service — $498,754.
  • Athens-Limestone County Emergency Management Agency — $153,553. Includes $10,200 for a flat panel television for training and disasters, and antennas and radio and cellular amplifiers to allow cell phone and radio service inside the EMA facility.
  • Coroner — $74,127. Includes $21,000 to replace the coroner's car with a 2006 Crown Victoria.
  • Cowford Campground — $40,000. Includes $24,000 for temporary help. The city helps fund this project.
  • Athens-Limestone HAZMAT — $7,000, split between county and city.
  • License Commissioner — $476,221.
  • Keep Athens-Limestone Beautiful — $15,000.
  • Athens-Limestone Development Association — $77,250.
  • Athens-Limestone Rescue Squad — $3,500.
  • Department of Public Health — $230,000.
  • Houston Memorial Library — $16,000.
  • Mental Health Center of North Alabama — $66,000.
  • North Alabama Mental Retardation Authority — $8,000.
  • Pryor Field Airport Authority — $30,000.
  • Tennessee Valley Rehabilitation — $10,000.
  • Boys and Girls Club — $30,000.
  • American Red Cross — $7,500.
  • Community Action — $5,000.
  • Alabama Veterans Museum — $15,000.
