ATHENS — Athens police are searching for two men who tied up a clerk and took the store's money.

Lt. Floyd Johnson said the duo entered Laprimavera at Jefferson and Malone streets around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

"They acted like they were looking for something, and then pulled a knife on her," Johnson said. "They put her in a back room and tied her up and took the money."

The clerk freed herself in time to see the men leave in a white Caravan-type vehicle heading north on Jefferson Street, Johnson said.

The clerk described the men as Honduras Mexicans, Johnson said. "She said she could tell by the way they talked and because they were lighter skinned," Johnson said.

One was short and weighed 160 pounds with collar-length dark brown hair, a mustache and beard. He wore a green and white checked shirt with blue jeans and a blue ball cap. The second was tall and weighed 120 pounds. He wore a red shirt and blue jeans with a green cap with a Nike swoosh on it.
