Make Alabama more difficult for illegal immigrants
Readers responding to THE DAILY's online poll overwhelmingly agree with making it tough for illegal immigrants in the state.
About 89 percent of voters, 775 total, agreed with the statement by state Rep. Micky Hammon, R-Decatur, who said his agenda "is to make it so difficult to live in Alabama that they will leave." Only about 11 percent, or 94 voters, disagreed.
The poll opened Sunday on THE DAILY's Web site, www.decaturdaily.com, and closed Tuesday night. A total of 869 readers participated in the unscientific survey. The 9-to-1 ratio supporting Hammon's position remained constant throughout the polling period.
