MONTGOMERY (AP) — The Alabama Democratic Party decided to get involved in a nonpartisan political race Saturday and endorsed Mobile County Commissioner Sam Jones in his runoff for mayor of Mobile.
In Tuesday's election, Jones pulled 48 percent of the vote in a four-candidate race. City Councilman John Peavy was second with 25 percent. They meet in a runoff Sept. 13.
