MONTGOMERY — Alabamians who missed the chance to vote in the June primaries have until Friday to register to vote in the July 18 runoff elections.

Janice McDonald, director of elections in the secretary of state's office, said even people who did not vote in the primaries may vote in the runoffs.

Kate Terry with the Morgan County registrars' office recommended that people who want to register come to the registrars' office in the Morgan County Courthouse between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

While libraries and some health facilities also sign up voters, Terry said a trip to the registrars' office could help reduce the chance for confusion on voting day.

Lawrence County residents may register from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the registrars' office in the basement of the county courthouse in Moulton. Board of Registrars Chairman Frank Pasley said his office will provide the new voters with a document showing their eligibility to vote.

In Limestone County, residents should go to the registrars' office on the second floor of the Courthouse Annex, Clinton Street entrance, in Athens.

Eligible voters who will be out of town or otherwise unable to get to the polls on the day of the runoff may be able to vote absentee.

July 13 is the last day to apply for an absentee ballot.
