ARDMORE — An alleged meth producer is back in jail after deputies found him passed out in his vehicle, Limestone County Sheriff's Department Chief Deputy Randy King said.

King said the department received a call about a suspicious vehicle on Bethel Road near Ardmore on Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.

"When they got there to check it out, they found a man passed out inside," King said.

He identified that man as Byron Keith Slaton, 24, of 21545 Upper Fort Hampton Road, Elkmont.

King said deputies also saw in the truck hot plates, brake cleaner and other items used in the production of crystal methamphetamine, King said.

"He had enough stuff to operate a lab," King said.

Authorities charged Slaton with manufacturing a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

No bond was set.

King said Slaton was out on bond for a previous manufacturing charge when he was arrested Tuesday.

King said Slaton likely was passed out because he had "probably been using and been up several days and finally crashed."
